The Dominant Lady

It was as if a bolt of lightning had struck my mind.
“What does ‘gone’ mean?” I demanded.
He rubbed his furrowed brows, sighing wearily, “I was planning to tell you about it later.”

“At the time, I was in the studio, and Yanzi was cooking in the kitchen. Suisu ran into the room to play, and somehow, she was bitten by Dou Dou.”

“Yanzi heard her crying and rushed over… In a panic, she threw the dog out of the window…”
I was stunned.
Pointing at the bathroom window, I asked, “From here?”
Shen Ke nodded.
My heart trembled in shock!
“You son of a bitch!!!”

I lunged towards the window to look down.
But the darkness below revealed nothing.
Shen Ke tried to hold me from behind, “Don’t look, a dog falling from the 5th floor is sure to die.”
“Get away!” I slapped him away and ran downstairs.

The community was filled with robust zelkova trees, towering three stories high, right outside the bathroom window.
Dou Dou might have been caught by the tree branches and not fallen to his death.
He must still be alive…

The rain was pouring down from the sky, washing away all traces.
Shen Ke followed me, struggling to hold an umbrella.
“Le Ning, don’t look anymore, it’s so late, and Dou Dou’s body must have been cleaned up by the sanitation workers. We’ll find out in the morning.”
“If you like, I’ll buy you another dog, okay? Let’s go back…”
The rain drenched my entire body.
I circled the community, calling for my puppy.
I sifted through the trash, searching for my puppy.
But found nothing.

“Can’t find it… No news is good news…”
I thought with relief, Dou Dou must still be alive, he must have been found by a kind person and taken home, right?
Tears streamed down my face.
Shen Ke came to take my hand: “The rain is so heavy, let’s go back.”
I sprang back as if I had been electrocuted.
Shen Ke’s eyes were full of fatigue: “Don’t be like this, okay? No one wants this to happen, can you understand me?”
“I’m in this situation precisely because I was too understanding!” I laughed, which was uglier than crying, “You’re less than animals, I want you to pay the price!”
Shen Ke panicked, fearing that I would do something irreparable, and took Bai Wenyan and Zhou Suisu back to his parents’ house that night.
Before leaving, Bai Wenyan advised me: “Miss Lin, Dou Dou is just a dog, if it’s gone, you can raise another one. Besides, it bit Suisu, who knows if it had rabies to begin with. A sick animal was going to die sooner or later, don’t be too sad.”
She knew I regularly took Dou Dou for check-ups, yet she still slandered him, stabbing me in the heart.
I stared at her: “Yes, animals will die sooner or later, remember to arrange your own affairs.”
Bai Wenyan’s eyes reddened: “How can you still curse people?”
Shen Ke hurriedly comforted her, patting her shoulder, and looked at me with a complicated expression: “Le Ning, is it necessary to make such a fuss over a dog?”
My eyes were red with anger: “Scum, even one more glance at you is disgusting, we’re done, get out!”
He was taken aback and lowered his head dejectedly: “You calm down first, and when you figure it out, we’ll come back.”
After all the trash was swept out, I made two calls.
One to the police.
“Hello, 110? My personal property was damaged, I want to claim the loss…”
All the cosmetics, perfumes, daily necessities, and soiled clothes together are worth about hundreds of thousands.
I will get this money from Bai Wenyan.
The other call was to my cousin.
“Brother, Shen Ke and I are done, his personal art exhibition is canceled… At all costs, I want him to never show his face in this industry again!”

To make the story more dramatic, consider adding more intense dialogues, deepening the emotional conflict, and introducing a plot twist that heightens the stakes for the characters. This could involve revealing a hidden connection between the characters or an unexpected revelation that turns the protagonist’s world upside down.
